I think you are wrong. There was not sufficient justification for the war in Iraq that is why France and Germany did not support it. Many Americans also thought the evidence was skimpy.
The reality is that the Bush administration wanted to go into Iraq from the early days of the administration even before 9/11. It had nothing to do with terrorism. It was about geopolitics and and oil. There is ample evidence of this hidden agenda.They simply lied to everybody and then blamed it on the intelligence community so they could say "oops".
