I find many people never really learn true lessons in investing; they just change their target. The fact an investor makes an ill-advised investment does not necessarily mean that same person will then go on to make only wise investments.
Back during the tulip frenzy investment (back when I-Man was a young boy), tons of investors who paid up to $60,000 for a tulip investment only to lose it all, soon were looking for other "sure" investments. It is human nature.
Do you think people who have been burned in the real estate market are going to learn from these last two years? Some will but many won't.
So, when someone tries to "protect" me from an investment that they too once made, I tend to have lazy ears.
