bagheera, since you have the two PCs networked you can keep the printer connected to one of them without ever moving it. To print from either PC, printer drivers must be present on each computer. Also, the printer must be shared. Go to 'printers', right click on that printers icon and select 'properties', then the 'shared' tab. It will lead you through the process.
