Thanks for pointing me to the Douglas-Westwood report. A couple of comments:

The “Golden Triangle” of deepwater, namely Africa, the Gulf of Mexico, and Brazilian areas, still will account for nearly 75% of global deepwater expenditure over the forecast period…

I think it would be more apt to say West Africa insofar as the rest of the continent has barely been a factor in deepwater exploration to date.

…new and emerging NOCs may be difficult to deal with due to their links to “less than ethical” governments.

LOL re the contortions to avoid using the word unethical.

John, have you looked at CLB? It strikes me as a fine company, sort of a poor man’s SLB. However, it has the drawback I mentioned in #msg-38351469.
