You do know that the majority of safety conscious trucking fleets already have satellite tracking software which gives them pinpoint accuracy in determining where their drivers are at all times & that they're adhering to the HOS regulations?
As well Ontario is about to implement speed limiters/governers on all the trucks in an effort to bring more safety to the roads.
So between the speed governers and 24/7 satellite tracking software systems from industry leaders like QC & in this atrocious trucking economy...I just don't see where trucking co.'s let alone independent brokers are gonna come up with the coin to implement a fatigue monitoring device any time soon.
I mean if Claude Robert who runs one of the safest fleets on the roadways of north america won't sign a contract for the CRAM even though he ran a pilot program several months back...who does that leave out there in the trucking industry who will pay for the CRAM especially seeing as no-one's seen any proof that it works well enough to even be remotely considered a marketable commodity!!!
So while I'm sure there's eventually going to be a market out there some day for fatigue monitoring devices with some fleets who are extemely safety conscious...these are extremely devastating economic times for the entire north american trucking industry & the last thing trucking co.'s have these days is funds to allocate towards an unproven system even one of the most safety-conscious fleets in north america ie: Transport Robert...decided to take a pass on even after running a pilot program several months back with the very company said to be marketing the CRAM!!!
