Download a movie
I have trouble downloading short audio clips which don't sound that great.
I get better radio reception with the fillings in my teeth.
Disney has a long way to go before it makes money with movie down loads for a fee.
First problem is 30 minutes on a high speed modem and then watch the movie on
my computer screen?? All this for only $3.95 - all righty then.
It could work in the forseeable future but they won't make any money with it for a while.
Who gets the bulk of the income, my guess is the studio with a small percentage to the
facilitator. Disney is trying to eliminate the middle man like Blockbuster or other retailers.
Does this translate into dollars for DIG or DIS. More for Disney than DIG by a long shot.
Disney still calls the shots and that will continue to hold back DIG from being a profitable
company. If Disney does not come out with some blow out numbers in earnings this
quarter it could spell disaster for DIG. What happens to DIG if Disney says "no more funding"
for unprofitable operations. Disney's P/E is at 58 right now and that's high for an entertainment
stock. If the analysts decide to bring that lofty P/E of Disney down, DIG may follow in sympathy.
Both companies need earnings and growth or at least a forseeable growth pattern.
The numbers will be out soon and until then hold your breath.

Re: I'm pleased a unit of Disney is experimenting with pay-per-view movies over the internet.

Me, too! They're getting their feet wet. This is only good. Far too many times Disney has been the laggard. Rarely have they ever acheived first-mover status.

So, c'mon folks, a little excitement, please. Here, maybe this will help. Check it out:
