BEIJING, May 11, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- EDU | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- More than 20 Chinese companies engaged in education will set foot in the international capital market in the coming two to three years, and then China's education concept stock sector is expected to take shape.
Presently, several education institutions quicken their steps toward the overseas listing, and New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc. (NYSE: EDU | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) and China Distance Education Holdings Ltd. (NYSE:DL) have successively gone public on the New York bourse, said the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) chief representative in Beijing.
In particular, China's education field drew more attention from PE (private equity) investors in recent years. Total capital gained from the education financing for the past one year reached USD 275 million, accounting for 12.09% of total financing in the domestic VC (venture capital) market.
A batch of Chinese education companies enjoyed the capital injection from PE investors at the 2008-end, said people familiar with the matter.
