Sounds like you're having fun prepping for the trip... I know I should remember this... but when is the trip? My mind's a little on the displaced side these days... work was brutal yesterday... three more days and I'm out of there for a week...
You are far more compassionate than I am regarding the training, medical benefits, and day care... there is such a thing as public schools... my tax money went to that... they blew it... let 'em scrub floors and encourage their kids to take advantage of the educational opportunities that are out there... unfortunately the alchemist who can make gold out of lead has not been born yet... here's a real anti-pc statement... not all people are equal... in innate ability that is... has nothing to do with the melanin in their skin... has to do with the "functionality" (computer geek word) of their gray matter.
If we hadn't had this crap about certain jobs being beneath people's dignity or not being fulfilling... we wouldn't have the mess we have now... there is nothing shameful in supporting oneself and family through "menial" labor... heck my job is anything BUT fulfilling... but guess what... it pays the mortgage... I've also done my share of crap menial jobs... four summers in a factory while working nights at the drive-in (cashier... let's set the record straight)... my family roots are working class...
I'm getting carried away here...
Newspapers... I get the two big northern NJ papers each day... read the Times on line and if I have time check out USA Today and the Washington Post (also on line)... very interesting to see how the same story is told from different PsOV...
TV news... the friendly talk show format goes back to the mid-60s... my earliest memory... Bill Beutel and Roger Grimsby... NY local news team via ABC... Tex Antoine and Uncle Wetherbee with the weather... Roger Grimsby was superb... dry wit... believe they did write their own copy... now it's a good idea run amok... the twinkies presenting the stories can barely read the cue cards smoothly... but they sure are pretty and they sure represent multi-cultural America... barf...
