Geithner reminds me more and more of Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf (Saddam Hussein's Information Minister). They both make regular annoucements to the press which fly in the face of widely available information and common sense. I'm not sure which is more comical: 1) al-Sahhaf's assertion that US forces were not in Iraq when they were in fact patrolling the city a few hundred yards from his position or 2) Geithner's assertion that the vast majority of banks have adequate capital while the administration keeps putting off releasing stress test results and won't allow firms to repay TARP funds.
