In many respects the short dated Treas. - Div Yield is very similar to the Relative Valuation type measure of PE + short rate. Typically earnings and dividend levels go hand in hand, so the inverse of earnings yield (PE) is reflective of dividend yields. Just a different way of presenting much the same detail I suspect.
