Did you THINK Google built Chrome out of the goodness of their hearts?

Google has installed a so-called Omnibox in the browser, where a user can type in either a Web page address or a search query. Google spokesman Steve Langdon said that as long as the "suggest" feature is left on, and a user has Google set as their default search engine, the company will capture 2% of the information placed in the Omnibox for its own records.
If the use of Chrome proliferates among Internet users, it could therefore provide Google with a wealth of new data measuring not only what users are looking for online, but the specific sites they are seeking outside of Google.

When Google Chrome launched, everyone jumped to embrace the new browser. Unfortunately, each Google Chrome installation contains a unique ID that allowing identifying its user.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t like anyone or anything tracking my usage, especially not a company as powerful as Google.
