An American corporation, ECT, decide not to send it's *top scientists* at THE Conference because they *fear* the behavior of a foreign individual. At worst, they could have called the police like they did in Chicago or warn the conference organizers that a *dangerous individual* would be roaming the corridors of the Boston Marriott Long Wharf.
