Exactly! Newly2b...
When a crook like Madoff doesn't get thrown in jail immediately after admitting a crime to a law enforcement officer, what does that tell society?...That you can get get away with one of the most dastardly crimes of the century, and walk away because you're rich!...No wonder corruption is rampant...Because the people that commit the big crimes get to walk because they have money...While there are hundreds of thousands of people in jail now whose crimes pale in comparison...But they are in jail now because they can't buy themselves out of it like rich people can...Why aren't ANY of the people that caused the fall of our financial system in jail or under investigation and/or indictment?...Corruption will continue to be rampant in our society until we start putting the worst offenders in jail, and get them off the streets...They are bound to attempt more wrongdoing since they know they won't have to answer to anyone for their illegal activities...We are sending the wrong message to society when known criminals are not punished on equal terms with the rest of society...We need to start sending the right message that if you commit a crime, you had better be willing to do some time IMO...
