Oh, Sorry, no, afaik Cree does not do OLED technology at all. They are basically a semiconductor company. I'm into lighting, not displays. I have heard you can buy OLED TVs, but its bleeding edge - like a 24 in screen for $10 k or something (I'm making that up).

OLEDs are tough - you have to be able to keep air out of them, but they are meant (generally) to be flexible. Some plastics are clear, flexible, cheap, and impervious to oxygen, but very few =)

Hi, brainlessone. It is Sony who has the small-screen OLED TV on the market in limited quantities for around $3K. Samsung is also selling products with OLEDs. The pen with the roll-up OLED screen has been a marketing gimmick of Universal Display for years (PANL holds most of the recent and defining patents for OLEDs but not all; Kodak pioneered the field). LG is manufacturing OLED screens for wireless phones and rumour has it that LG is now going to be making OLED screens for AAPL, but that rumour is always popping up so its anyone's guess whether or not this is really the case. There are a limited number of products utilizing OLEDs on the market so far, and it would appear the technology simply isn't ready for prime time. . .yet! Quantum Dots may turn out to be competitors in this space -- something to think about. . .
