A point about QD's - here is a technology tragedy. They are fabulous, do what they need, are relatively inexpensive and very efficient. The problem: Both Cadmium and Selenium are extremely toxic. Expose these babies to the environment and the two elements will end up where they shouldn't be. These are dangerous materials - being sub 10 nm in diameter, they can go anywhere. Researchers are working on coatings but at the end of the day the risk is very very high. Personally I hope that someone is successful in making the coatings work but I am not that optimistic.
