Interesting you mention the complacency of Berlin residents as it was one of my thoughts while reading the article this morning.

To state that 9500 Berlin residents are against the plant coming online is incorrect. Most Berlin residents I'm sure just want to get back to work and are not involved with petitions and letters to the editor. Remember, the mill employed almost 800 people at its peak, most of them Berlin residents. I'm sure if you asked them what was best for Berlin, they would give you a straight answer.

A lot of residents, including the Berlin council (sigh...) are living in a state of delusion where they feel that Berlin can be fixed with a Casino and a little good luck. It's not going to happen. Berlin will be revived by the same industry that it was founded because of.
