Odd Kelly,
There appears to be more here than Dr. Friedlander not finding anything on the Abbott deal. Dr. Friedlander's comments actually were focused on the claims made on BioCurex's Histo-RECAF (TM)test.
The following is found in the November 14, 2008 SEC 10-Q filing:
“Biocurex is involved in developing cancer detection technology and:
Has developed a cancer detection kit which stains cancer cells, thereby allowing a pathologist to easily view the cancer cells with the use of a microscope,”
In the next paragraph of the same SEC filing the following is also stated:
“Due to the costs involved in manufacturing and marketing, Biocurex plans to license its Histo-RECAF(TM) and Cryo-RECAF(TM) technology to third parties. As of September 30, 2008, Biocurex had not sold any Histo-RECAF(TM) or Cryo-RECAF(TM) test kits and had not licensed the technology pertaining to these kits to any third parties.”
BioCurex’s current website does make the following claim: "Results have consistently proven that BioCurex successfully detects over 90% of all cancers in blood or tissue samples - levels significantly above any present method." Notice that the previous sentence includes “tissue samples”.
Medical Pathologist, Dr. Ed Freidlander. Has written the following during 2008:
“In the meantime, I have contacted the company and expressed an interest in working with them to see whether their claims can withstand scrutiny by the usual methods of science. As a pathologist, it would be a simple matter to confirm or refute the claim, made in the review, that cancers stain and non-cancerous tissue does not stain.”
“Follow-up (August 31, 2008): Despite their expressed eagerness to have independent review, the promoters have not responded to my e-mails.”
My comment: Investors should be curious as to why there was no response to Dr. Freidlander’s emails by BioCurex management. kag
