I think it maybe somewhat tough getting some designs back. And some contracts are 2-3 years yes. But I think that fundamental problem with flash is that it is a commodity now. Mirrorbit and strataflash are nice products but NAND is growing very rapidly. Really it is an ideal place for people like AMD and Samsung to play because price is really significant. I think intel will continue to be strong here but I don't think any one company is going to dominate this market, or if they do it will be short lived.
My outlook for intel is positive and I think they will do fine(remains to be seen how well the new aggressiveness will pay off) but I do not believe the unbridled optimism in the CNET article for AMD is justified. I think this is going to be a dogfight. And I wouldn't be suprised to see Samsung take a big chunk out of AMDs Spansion plans. And intel might just do so as well. We'll have more clarity after the quarterly reports but this is ongoing. And I think too many people discount Samsung...
