john, you wrote: "I thought that GTC overstated the value of being able to produce already approved drugs via Transgenics."

If I may ask you to what degree do you feel GTCB "overstated" the savings of producing drugs via transgenics?

And you wrote "thought". So I'll ask if you still think GTCB is overstating the value of producing drugs via transgenics?

johnbits, Genzyme still owns stock in gtcb. I believe they made an internal decision back in the gauchers dz days to go with cell culture to get quick approval rather than support parallel production platforms. As an occasional consultant for a major medical company I have learned that large companies are frequently not as forward thinking as you imply. They wait for the risk to be taken by others and then buy them. In this case without a single product on the US market, larger companies would be inclined to wait in my opinion. Once there is approval my opinion and the opinion of others I respect on this board is that they will wait no longer, to fund or buy. Yes of course the farmers were forced to sell (to banks). Lets hope the market will provide the necessary rescue, even through the issuance of more stock if necessary (at a much higher price of course--I will be buying) before the likes of GE and in some sense LFB "forclose". bp
