When you consider the deals Buffett was able to get from GS & GE recently you realize that anyone with a well funded checkbook can call the shots these days. Those Arabs must have gotten something sweet for their money, otherwise why get involved? There are lots of good companies on sale right now.

Where do you get this idea that AMD's cost will be higher than it is now? I think their costs will be lower, subsidized by the new company. Note that money flows back and forth between the two in the agreement (AMD capable of buying more interest in the foundry, etc).
Do you know the investment philosophy of Abu Dabi? Is it like the Asians where you pour money in for ages to achieve eventual market share long term? Don't forget that the foundry is not a public company so there will be no reporting going on... Not sure how that appears on AMD's sheet...
