Why won't Abu Dhabi insist that the foundry make a profit right out of the box or shortly thereafter? If they do this it will put some squeeze on what is left of AMD because they no longer get their chips at cost but at cost plus.
You can also bet that whatever power point slides AMD used to sell this deal had to show profitability for the fab and they will be waved under AMD's noses if things don't pan out.
Finally, anyone who was going to benefit from AMD's success, be it New York or Germany, has to think they have died and gone to heaven because without this deal things were going down the tubes - there probably would not have been a NY fab and Dresden would slowly sink further behind the technology curve - all this assuming that the Germans and NY have any earthly idea what is going on.
