i was raised catholic. did the first communion and confirmation rights of passage.. catechism too.. but went to public schools with the exception of 1st grade.
most of my catholic freinds and acquaintances are not overtly religious.. most of us realize that its based on myths and fables... all supreme being based religions are...
as a child i was awed by the pagentry of the services.. the church i went too was quite gothic in design, built in 1900AD by italian immigrants.. its now mainly patronized by latinos from what ive been told...
ive also been told theres a real conservative sect of catholics out there, but ive never met any of them... a friend of mine thinks that converts to catholicism are the most conservative..the guy who owns blackwater is a convert and he's very much on the right side of the political spectrum...
ive never ever tried to convert anybody or proselitize... it wasnt ever instilled in me that it was supposed to be my mission to do that... you either were or you werent....
to be honest, the whole eucharist/communion thing is disgusting... people wonder where monsters like jeffrey dahmer get the idea to eat their victim.. well, i say it comes from religious doctrine and ceremonies...
and the adam and eve story...isnt that where the concept of incest was developed? i mean, who did adam and eve's kid make babies with? and the noahs ark fable also promotes incest too..
