Riser buoyancy modules are subjected to rough handling and an abusive life in the yard, during offshore installation and in service. CoreTec modules combat this abuse in two ways. First, the ToughSkin™ outer shell is molded from a tough, high strength polymer. This shell provides an unprecedented level of protection, from both impact and abrasion. The SolidCore™ inner buoyancy material is cast from solid, pure syntactic foam containing no "minispheres" or "EP's. This SolidCore™ foam allows the modules to reach depths of 12,000 feet and beyond with no danger of catastrophic failure.
