I happen to agree with you that the rumored high levels of shorting of RPRX at this stage is highly risky... the volume to cover just isn't there without driving the price very quickly past $10... unless, of course, the shorting party plans to use the shelf, a possibility that I highly doubt. The risk to shorting, however, is always exaggerated, because the assumption is that they will be playing by the rules... something that Bear Sterns and company, the Federal Reserve and the SEC are seemingly shocked to learn isn't true... but whooda thunkit?
As to Q-dot, he seems horrified that info from a market research document could be shared, and urges prosecution of anyone who would... but apparently turns a blind eye to insider knowledge. Go figure...
