As to Q-dot, he seems horrified that info from a market research document could be shared, and urges prosecution of anyone who would... but apparently turns a blind eye to insider knowledge. Go figure...
I am not turning a blind eye to anything, so please don't confuse my recognition of something happening as the same thing as my being a condoner of it.
It was inappropriate for you to ask for free access to a proprietary $5,000 research report. And it would be illegal for someone to give it to you - black and white case. It is illegal to trade on non-public, inside information but it is an area with a thousand shades of grey and as a result remains a virtually unpoliced area of securities law. To deny that such trading takes place is just plain naive.
