#81109 RE: Eli's Gone #81108

I'm not sure if I really remember this or if I have heard my father tell the story so many times that I remember the story more than the actual event. I have been a lifelong Yankee fan. Oddly enough my memory is not about any Yankee player but it did occur in Yankee Stadium.

When I was about 6 years old my Dad took me to Yankee Stadium. I don't remember who was playing, what the score was, or even who won the game because my memory (or my Dad's) was after the game was over.

We were in the stands and we noticed a crowd of people so we walked towards it. There were 2 people signing autographs and I had no idea who they were until my father told me. It was Pee Wee Reese and Dizzy Dean.

I walked over hesitantly with my scorecard in hand hoping to get an autograph from them but being only six and very little, the crowd pretty much made me invisible.

After signing a ton of autographs the two players said they had to leave. The crowd of people started to disperse when all of a sudden Dizzy turned to Pee Wee and said, "Wait Pee Wee, we have to give one more autograph to the little girl". Me!

Unfortunately over the years I have lost the autographs but I still have the memory.......my father tells the story at every family gathering!
