Neither one of those posts were TOU violations, and neither should have been removed.
This is one of the areas that sets apart the very best moderators. Perhaps this will help to illustrate:
There is a difference between off-topic and irrelevant. Off-topic falls under the purview of the moderator; irrelevant doesn't. Readers determine the veracity, credibility, and relevance of posts, not moderators. It can be a fine line of separation sometimes, but usually taking a step back to gain an objective perspective will reveal which side of the line on which it falls.
