Although I may have missed the sense of some of your allusions, I did get your idea of allowing a few usually-present members to interdict offensive posts/posters.
I realize, as I'm sure you do, such an arrangement would lead to the usual outburst of not-so-righteous indignation from the offenders ... and the inevitable cries of "Who polices the policemen?" It would probably lead to another liberal/conservative fracas. Even so, I think your idea would work. In my experience, though, Matt does not want to subject others to the kind of abuse he endures. I know he felt the nastiness levelled at me during my brief stint as warden, a year or so ago.
