How many new people do you get a day? It does seem like a lot of work to wade through.
I have always thought that giving credit card information would be a deterrent to people signing up for multiple aliases. You don't have to charge anything but it's kinda like another form of ID.
What the hell.....charge everyone a dollar just to get an alias and they have to use a credit card to pay!

Gosh Matt,
BobZ would find it sad to realize that the only reason you take his advice is because you like him as a person, and would not if you thought of him in a similiar manner as you do towards gotmilk.
The strength and power and determination of your brain being very high over the average is of little use if you focus on the wrong side of a problem, time wise.
I replyied to a suggestion by The Original dpb5! #msg-2175457 and added info to address your: "a system will never be able to catch them. A human can. I don't mind doing [extra] work [if] it makes sense." #msg-2175626 I identified the iHub community to do your "doing [extra] work" as a simple BopZ concept that iHub is the members, and as such they are directly involved in making this web site work.
All I can say Matt is,,,,,,,, Try it, and see, If it works, and the idiots are quashed, then great, if not back to the drawing board. Wish I knew more about all of this, to be of more help!!!
It would be funny if, when you detect a spammer, you click on something that lets him post away to his heart's content... but, nobody else can see his posts except him. He is invisible and doesn't know it.
Burpzilla has the right idea!!! Let me flesh it out.
1) Create "purgatory", accessible only by management 2) Let new accounts post as much as they want 3) Make their posts visible only to themselves ... and in purgatory. 4) God (nee Matt) scans purgatory and disposes of the applicants (supplicants?), admitting legitimate posters to the heaven of iHub membership and consigning idiots, spammers, and other such trash to the hell of iHub rejection.
