#9162 RE: MIB #9158

Hi MIB,
Nice to hear from you.

I was not questioning what the new testament taught.

I was giving a follow up on the old testament.

Jesus became our once and for all sacrifice indeed in the new.

However, that did not exist in the old.

BIBLICALLY speaking, All of Gods People were required to honor/obey the Lord in sacrifices for the sin of their people, themselves included.

All of the old testament attests to this.

Infact all the way up until Jesus was walking on earth AND entered the temple...the Jews were STILL selling animals for money(but the buyers were those who bought the animals for SACRIFICE in the temple).

They kinda had a monopoly there.
Point is, animal o/t LAWS were in effect up until the The Word became flesh and dwelt/SPOKE among them, the new testament.
========

What Spurgeon or others taught is as you told me, non dogmatic material.

Scripture God-breathed is, Amen. =)

The point is, there is NO example where Gods Spirit indwelled as he does in the new, permanently.
I have not questioned new testament teachings of the Sealing of the Spirit.

Only a follow up of your comment made (you being a seminary college pastor, etc) as to reveal biblical proof, verses of such.
Which there are none.

**My pm to you intailed- "trying to stump me" STILL APPLIES.

By this I mean- I WANT TO LEARN AND GROW. =)

LETS DO IT GODS' WAY, through scripture itself. AMEN! =)

I tend to quote scripture over a person.
This is why:

You used Spurgeon as your go to man...
----

As early as 1858 Spurgeon preached a broad way (i.e. ecumenism, Matthew 7:13-14).

"Our Father." That then, includes those of God's children who differ from us in their doctrine. Ah! There are some that differ from us as wide as the poles; but yet they are God's children. Come, Mr. Bigot, do not kneel down, and say, "My Father," but "Our Father." "If you please, I cannot put in Mr. So-and-So, for I think he is a heretic." Put him in, sir; God has put him in, and you must put him in too, and say, "Our Father." -Charles Spurgeon.
------
While he did an incredible job as a revivalist, he is still human.
Quoting scripture is the best thing we can do to lead people into the truth. Amen. =)
------

I do not hold to any sect, call it. But am a King James, born again bible believer. Amen. =)
==================================
I canNOT understand why you would speak of Spurgeon doctine however.... he lives in fear. Fear of being wrong, and if so.... he would by HIS OWN WORDS:

"If ever it should come to pass,

That sheep of Christ might fall away,

My fickle, feeble soul, alas!

Would fall a thousand times a day."

If one dear saint of God had perished, so might all; if one of the covenant ones be lost, so may all be; and then there is no gospel promise true, but the Bible is a lie, and there is nothing in it worth my acceptance. I will be an infidel at once when I can believe that a saint of God can ever fall finally. (ibid., 168-169, bold added)
