You said
They kinda had a monopoly there.
Point is, animal o/t LAWS were in effect up until the The Word became flesh and dwelt/SPOKE among them, the new testament.
Not arguing that they continued to do this.
Question that you have not examined is WHY was the LAW put into plce.
Paul gives the answer.
Galatians 3: 19 - 23 ahould give sufficient scripture pertaining to the SALVATION of O.T/ saints.
As to BB's question regarding indwelling, I will get back to that when I have time.
Please please please bear in mind that just because there is no absolute ONE scripture that SAYS exactly what we want it to say, but there are LOTS of examples of what we are talking about, SILENCE on a subject is a weak argument when dealing with doctrinal theology.
Galatians 3:19-29
19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. 20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. 21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. 22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
What did the animal sacrifices represent?
What did they POINT people to?
WHO was it that Abraham looked to afar off and believed?
Were the sacrifces and MOSAIC law around when Abraham lived?
Then HOW did he become declared righteous by God if he were not SAVED BY FAITH????
IF we could be saved by simply sacrificing a bunch of animals noone would have needed Christ to come and shed His blood right?
Abraham and all the rest would not need to have believed in the coming Messiah and trust GOD.
Brother, I am trying to only point out a few obvious things in dealing with the subject of the people in Old Testament times we are going to meet in heaven, both JEWS and GENTILES alike!
Job was a Gentile btw.
Anyway, good discussion and please , let nobody take offense.
This isn;t going to matter one iota in eternity, right???
We can all find out there who was right, but I suspect I will be more interested in seeing Christ, praising HIM, and visiting with all who have gone on before me waiting there. Amen????
Let us not get hung up majoring on the minors, amen????
Bless you all for your thoughts and comments.
I really have no desire to get into a debate over it.
Shalom,
