Well then they would have been extremely lucky.

Lets hope they're not lucky at all and have actually drilled some really bad holes and missed hitting the mother lode all together.

There actually is a name for that sort of formation. The top of the mountain is called a (k)nappe structure, and sometimes a roof pendant. The idea is it does not go deep, perhaps only a few hundred feet if there has been sufficient erosion.

On the other hand, there is no reason to suspect it, unless you already bought the stock.
