There actually is a name for that sort of formation. The top of the mountain is called a (k)nappe structure, and sometimes a roof pendant. The idea is it does not go deep, perhaps only a few hundred feet if there has been sufficient erosion.

On the other hand, there is no reason to suspect it, unless you already bought the stock.
