We are in no danger of such a thing, unless our own congress denies us the ability to go after our own reserves. Oil Shale in Canada and the US alone to keep us going for years. In addition, the reserves off of the Alaskan Coast, the Gulf and south of FL. We just need a congress that understands what must be done. Of course, at the same time, the search for clean, renewable alternatives should be a huge part of any drilling deal. I have stated before and don't know why it has never been tried, open up all the areas to drilling, placing strict fines for spills and also a small tax on all oil produced that would go directly to grants for research on new clean renewable alternatives. Best of all worlds there!

I think we will have a long slow decline. During that time we will get our act together on something like fusion or be screwed. The current crop of alternative energies are a bridge. They are not energy intensive enough to sustain the heavy industry needed to produce them.

Not to be on a downer-

1) The French are in charge of the fusion program!
2) Crude oil production has been flat since 2005.

P.S. Check out The Long Emergency

I've seen that bell curve before....back in the 70s. We were supposed to run out in the 80s. It assumes that no more reserves will be found. They assumed it back then, and they were wrong. Of course the supply is finite, but, if you factor in 'costly' reserves....we have a long way to go IMO. Having said that....it will get more and more costly, so I figure we may just have to do without a lot of things that we don't really need anyways. So let us just say that the days of cheap energy will soon come to an end....

~~ Soros ~~ didn't help at all with the hearing, I would say, it is because TS Paulson and Goldman ...

Of course, we have Bush/Chain up there too.

I think that God will send us "Brilliant Invention" when the time is right. LOL It is like a leap of faith moving a big mountain which is effect and efficient energy power like new lighting bulb.

As a former Insider I know Alaska has plenty of oil, enough to supply the United States for 200 years. Lindsey Williams say the world is no where near -
running out of oil....
