If in fact IDCC has something in the Apple phone is that a design win for IDCC or IFX or both?
I would see it as a design win for both companies though it would be proving out different parts of the respective chipset. For IDCC, it would be confirmation that they have a commercial grade HSDPA protocol stack and for Infineon it would give some confidence in their overall chipset solution.
Good news for both and a solid step towards commercialization of IDCC's own line of chips.
As for prices, I really dont have a clue and have to differ to Data Rox. The only chip IP supplier that I am familiar with is ARMHY and they only receive pennies for their ARM cores. I dont know if that is an indication of what IDCC can expect for their HSDPA protocol stack, but if so, it really is a no brainer to push as hard as possible towards getting their own chip on the market.
