#1971 RE: Richter718 #1968

I’m looking into RAID, but I need to assess its capabilities. Does RAID provide full mirroring including the critical system files? Or does it merely mirror user files, would not help much in my case because most of my stuff is backed up or on the web. In other words, I am interested in RAID for the possibility of uninterrupted computing in the event of disk failure, rather than data preservation per se.

I’d be interested in any additional color you can provide on your RAID system: brand, cost, installation, etc. Also, I am sensitive to the high noise level of my PC and I was wondering if RAID would have any effect on that. T.i.a.

I called Dell tech support and reached an Indian fellow (Dell has moved all of its call-center work to India) whose English was not so good. He said my system is now on a “reboot counter” and will stop working after two more reboots. So I will leave the computer on full time until it fails, avoiding high-risk tasks which might necessitate a reboot.

>> Your post regarding the near expiration, dollar wise, of the shelf registration was very valuable. As you pointed out, with only $8.9 million left before a new reg must be filed, a lot of the short term risk of buying right before a PIPE is diminished… I have not had time to go over the yahoo board since the wedding, so I don't know if you posted that info there. If you did, kudos, if not, please dew, ;-) <<

I did mention the shelf registration on Yahoo, but I don’t know if anyone other than kaiva noticed or cared. Regards, Dew
