What if you work in that grocery store ?? Someone has to... How many hours do you have to work to fill your tank at $3 - $4/gal -- the cost being related mostly to rampant speculation and questionable trading practice in a completely non-regulated energy trading market.

Yes, as the once thiving middle class continues to shrink -- and the ever widening class divide grows, we really are witnessing "the best of times, and the worst of times" -- depending on your end of the class divide... It is Reaganomics run amuck. No system survives without rules. Regulation should attempt to balance consumer protection without stifling business. But some measure of regulation is essential to the success of any system...

When we were kids, my grandmother told us about elderly people who used to eat cat food. We don't hear about that stuff anymore...

How long before the health insurance industry starts "exporting" patients to contries where the cost of care is less expensive ?? Sounds ridiculous, I know, but you best believe the insurance industry has considered the possibility, and done feasibility studies -- at least for the elective procedures... How cheap is a flight to Mexico? I'm sure the insurance industry could work a volume discount, or establish their own shuttle service...

Funny how all the jobs are dissaperaing but the unemployment rate of around 5.1% is about the same as during CLintons fabulous economy

"For every guy who leaves the table with chips someone goes home without. For every guy who has a nice house on the ocean, a lot of others are hungry."

One of the liberal core fallacies.

New ideas can create worth w/o taking away from anyone else. Look at the value Gates created w/ his software. Solely through his ideas ( and cut throat marketing ) he created billions in value. It's that sort of class envy that dooms liberal thought.

'Unless you're printing money "

Ummm, isn't that what the Fed does? A lot of new ideas or technology actually help others do their own work more effectively and thus create value for the buyer and seller. Ca[italism is not rape, despite your 60's view of the world

"Remove the leveling influence of taxes (what Adam Smith called "transfer payments"

It's all a question of degree. Are you saying that the provider of value is not entitled to the fruits of their labor more than someone who is not providing value to society. In your world should all income just be divided among all citizens equally?

Again, in the real world this has never worked. THe Soviet Union crumbled for just that reason. Removing the profit motive doomed it to failure

I used to work for stagnant wages when I was younger. I got off my ass and did something to improve my marketability. We will always have poor people becasue some just dont give a crap and have no motivation or are mental defective. Fact of life.

As for old people dying of starvation or freezing, that's a issue about the family unit as a whole...If my grandparents were starving they would be in my house ASAP.

Your socialistic mentallity looks great on paper..It's a Utopia that only lives in your dreams.

Some live on the beach, some are hungry? AND?

Some people work their asses off and some sit on their ass and smoke dope. Many people have EARNED a better life.

Live with it. Oh..and if you want to help, give all your money to the IRS. They WILL accept it.
