Also I did not have a chance to answer your question about using ASP vs ASP.net - the cart system is very recent, and has just not been switched over to ASP.net yet - I typically am not a ASP developer, I tend to aim more towards PHP for programming due to openness and easier/more affordable database functionality.
We chose ASP because it is easier to fine a base solution to build on that can meet CISP/PCI PABP requirements for payment processing (Visa/MC). We want this store to be secure (you will notice on the screenshots that there is an EV SSL certificate, makes the address bar in IE7 green) - we cut no corners in security.
