Fair enough, they've adapted, but are you suggesting they've gone to laissez faire capitalism? Or are they still a centrally managed economy?
As to your point that actual communism has failed, who was ever practicing Marxism really? I've heard of a few who said they were, but no one's ever tried it on much of a scale. I think Tito's Yugoslavia was pretty close and halfway successful. And I think the basic Israeli Kibbutz is a real commune and successful too, but not as popular as it once was. I think hybrids are what will eventually work. Straight capitalism looks like a Dickens novel and it's unacceptable in the end to the vast majority.
