Gen. 21:1-2. etc. clearly states Abraham sent Hagar and Ismael out to wander in the desert of Beersheba with but one skin of water, and when it was empty Hagar and Ishmael lay down a bow shot apart (for she did not want her son to see her die). Had not the angel appeared and offered relief, they surely would have died. If Abraham had done this in Arizona today, he'd be serving 10-20 for child abuse and attempted manslaughter, and rightly so. He'd get out when he was 120, if my math is correct. I see you read into the Bible whatever you want rather than what is strictly written. I'll admit I do the same when I read fairy tales.

PS - for establishment of fact, the angel in the aforementioned story is the fairy.
