Abraham was not "well out of the picture", of course, and the Bible most emphatically does not teach that Abraham "did not love" Ishmael nor does it teach that he treated Ishmael with cruelty. The opposite is true.

If you have ever read any of my posts concerning "peace" prospects in the middle east, you would know that I have always stated that there will be no peace in the middle east in this era. I base that conclusion on Scripture, although the actions of the arabs should tell anyone with any common sense that is the case.
