I totally disagree. Having a good product is one thing. Making that product available to billions and still maintaining a fundamentally sound company is quite another. If all these other programs were so great and the business people behind them were equally adept, then they would be on the market. That's a fact. I'm sick of people blaming every other software company failure on Bill Gates. The netscape web browser sucked. Period. I.E. was and still is better. Fact is, if Microsoft hadn't made browsers free, somebody else would have soon enough. Web browsers should be free. And when Apple got their main man back, low and behold they are now back on the map and rocking with some awesome machines. The Mac OS and Linux are real competition to Windows. I think all the haters blow everything out of proportion. My question to you would be, "If you were Bill Gates, would you have done anything differently?" If you answer yes, that may have meant that Microsoft would have failed and the home computer wouldn't be what it is today. Jobs never had the obsessive compulsive traits to get the job done in the beginning. Bill did. That's my take on it.
