Haddock, Altix already accounts for 50% of SGI server revenue. How many systems do you think that makes?
Hmmm, let's see, ~$50m revenue at say ~$500k ASP is
about 100 Altix 3000 systems per quarter run rate during
4Q03 with excellent growth potential leading into 2004.
Both in ASP (maximum system configuration sizes keep
growing) and in overall units as more and more HPC SW
is ported and optimized for the Altix. Also, the new Altix
350 departmental server should open up new markets for
SGI of users not quite needing the capacity of a 3000.
The final piece of the puzzle for SGI is refreshing its
workstation line with IPF based systems and I would be
suprised if that doesn't happen by early 2H04.
BTW, wbmw, can you point to a public source for the 50%
server revenue figure?
