An engineer from SGI told me. She also stated that visualization systems based on IPF will launch before the end of the year, and Altix 350 systems will begin shipping within a few weeks. She was also very positive about SGI customers demanding the IPF solution over competing architectures. Little SGI has already sold over 12k IPF processors in their Altix 3000 systems, which have only been available since the beginning of last year.
