#38376 RE: TheProphet #38373

if this is true:

the second component is the so-called "free exercise" clause, which requires that government be tolerant of religion and not adversely impact individuals for their religious practices, except where the practices impact on others.

and certainly abortion does not impact on others, how can the state regulate it on grounds other than a religous basis? it appears to be a religious argument that the "other" is a fetus. since the preponderance of fertilized eggs do not undergo implantation and division past the 4 cell stage, it can only be a religious argument as to when the "other" becomes into existance

Can the state promulgate a law or regulation which will "force" practitioners of some religions to breach their "religious" do and don't?

Here is a little something that was sent to me from Belgium, I translated from French and hope the meaning of the snippet is not too impacted:

A man is walking in the Bois de la Cambre in Bruxelles.
Suddenly, he observes a pit-bull attack a young girl. He rushes to the scene, catch the dog ending in killing the wild animal, thus saving the young babe.

A policeman was observing the events, and approached the young man, exclaiming, you are a hero, tomorrow, the whole world will read in the dailies: "A courageous Bruxellois saves the life of a defenseless child in le bois de la Cambre"

The young man respond, but I am not from Bruxelles...

The policeman retort, fine, then the dailies will proclaim "A courageous Belgian saves a young child in le bois de la Cambre"
-But I am not a Belgian...
-Zut alors, so what are you?
-I am an Israeli.

The next day "Le soir" entitles the story: A fascist zionist fanatic massacre a dog in Le Bois de la cambre".
