It would be simpler...but it would likely require multiple treatments over time and may not work as well. If I were the patient I would pay for my own stem cells to be created if it were possible. Having said that, someone with Type I DM may still go on to have autoantibodies attack their own islets all over again anyway without some form of immunosupression or immune barrier...so perhaps you can't avoid it.
