How much do you think it costs to operate a platform like Predator or Global Hawk, when those platforms can cost between 20,000 to 70,000 dollars per operational hour?
What do you think the cost advantages are, of an airship platform that can operate similar tasking at a tiny fraction of that cost?
All they have to do (and I keep saying this) is put hydrogen in the bladders instead of helium and all the problems are solved. If you come back with the Hindenberg, you don't know what you are talking about.
Zendo64 what you are implying is correct. These L ships are technologically inferior to the Sanswire/Tao S ships.
and I'm all for hydrogen,(Sanswire/Tao may have their reasons for not liking it). The current airship skins are not made of the almost explosive material of which the Zepplin airships were made. Take about a 400 mesh aluminum powder and mix it 7 to 3 with an oxidizer like potassium perchlorate or potassium chlorate and watch what happens when a match touches it. Happy 4th of July, flashpowder!
