A 70 year old businessman has seen and done a lot, that experience can be invaluable. Let me go on record as standing by my conviction that ERHC will not be bought out by Afren or anyone else any time soon. EVERY indication from the company is that they are building a respected E&P. As much as I hate to say it, and as much as it frustrates me, they are doing it the RIGHT way. You don't jump into the shark pond and "demand" or "take" respect. You earn it. Earning takes time, and ERHC has shown time and again that it has the determination and patience to earn the respect of the oil industry.
What this company does once drilling starts will show whether it has the leadership and fortitude to become more than a minnow. I think most here agree that the risk now isn't the oil... it's there. The risk is what they DO with it when it's proven. They could sell out for $7-10 and everyone here would be happy, but it would be a sad waste of potential considering the connections this company has. Time will show whether we tell a fairytale about a great stock that secured our financial futures or whether the talking heads tell an elaborate story about the birth of an oil giant.
Honestly, I'll take either, but #2 sure sounds like a nice ego boost to talk about to the grandkids.
