To my way of thinking there are only two options. Either this is the most inept management conceivable or the least honest. Possibly both
You're going to have to get in a very long line if you want to make THAT claim!!! I recommend to the parole board that you get credited for time served, but have an additional 3 weeks added to your sentence for grandstanding!

Much as one would do when one encounters mentally ill people talking to themselves on the street? You might want to help but you can't help. Best to just go about your day. How silly would you look if you followed the weirdos around and made sure everyone else knew how wrong they were? What do you suppose sane people would think of you?
