Perhaps you ought to be using the past tense here (“speculated”) insofar as the $10,000 figure was mentioned by GTC before Leo established its commercial price in Europe. Here’s the relevant language from GTC’s May, 2007 PR (#msg-19928950):

“GTC has determined that existing treatment options for severe sepsis are priced at a benchmark of approximately $10,000 per treatment, which if applied to DIC indicates a total potential U.S. market of $2 to 3 billion per year.”

In other words, the $10,000 was figure was based at least in part on the price of Xigris and Talecris’ Thrombate, rather than on pricing input from Leo about ATryn itself.
